Dubai, Dubai, Dubai…..

That’s all that’s on our minds these days. We’re looking forward to our move there next month, although I am dreading the logistics of actually moving. I mean, what DO I do with our housefull of furniture? Does it make any sense to take it with us? Furnished apartments can be found in Dubai, which is likely to be the best bet for us. So then, do I dispose of everything I currently own, or give it away, or keep it in storage…..ugh, the questions, combinations and permutations are ghastly and I think it’s better not to think about them for a while, and deal with them as the time comes.

Part of the problem, is that one gets just too attached to ‘things’ that they become hard to let go of them. To grow as a person, I think one has to be able to let go and not hold on too tightly to things. To give things away, to be charitable, to be generous…that is what we aspire to be.

When we moved back to India from Providence, RI in 2004, we came back just with our suitcases and 10 boxes of books and CD’s. Everything else we gave away to our neighbours and anyone else who wanted it. Parting with books is pretty much impossible though. We love to read and love to buy books and are collecting books to open a library one day. Yes, one day, it will happen, maybe when we retire.
