Fortis to 140 HealthWorld outlets
Fortis announced that the company would be opening around 140 HealthWorld outlets in the northern region. Chandigarh will have the first of these outlets, which will open within the next three months. HealthWorld has 10 outlets in Delhi and the NCR at present. HealthWorld stores will remain open all 24 hours and will sell over the counter drugs, health foods, untraditional supplements etc. According to Aashish Kirpal Pandit, CEO of Fortis HealthWorld, “We would spend close to Rs. 8 billion to establish 1,000 Fortis health stores across India in five years i.e. by 2012. So far the funding part is concerned it, it would be funded by Singh’s family of Ranbaxy.” Store size will vary from 500 ft and 2,000ft depending on the location of the store as well as the city. The company is targeting all cities that have populations of over 350,000.
