Google named the most valuable brand in the world
Google has been named as the most valuable brand in the world according to a survey by UK market research firm Millward Brown Optimor. According to them, the Google brand is now worth $66.4 billion, which has been estimated uisng financial reports and consumer surveys. Others in the top five were General Electric at $61.2 billion and Microsoft at $55 billion. Google’s closest competitor, Yahoo was way down at the 42nd rank.
Among retailers worldwide, Wal-Mart topped the brand rankings, followed by Home Depot, UK retailer Tesco and eBay. Internet companies also showed well in the survey’s assessment of brand momentum, which tries to quantify growth in the value of a brand. Among the top 10 companies in brand momentum were Google, Apple, eBay and Amazon. Amazon is No. 1 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
