The concept of searchandising is fast making online retailers change their merchandising options. According to research by the Aberdeen Group, 68% of best-in-class online merchants said that they use data from online merchandising search tools to improve their range of products, which in turn increases conversion rates. Father’s Day is coming up and it’s time to think of something great as a gift. The usual stock of ties and photo frames is getting a bit boring, so when I found this really cool retro Home Pride Ballpark Hot Dog Rotisserie, that would actually be used rather than be pushed to the back of the closest forever. This hot dog rotisserie griller would be perfect for setting up just the right snacks and atmosphere for a game and I think just about all guys would love it.

I use WordPress on this blog, which I also have on two of my other blogs. The system is very user friendly and quick that it’s hard not to like. Yesterday, I had a problem when I tried to embed a video. Each time I would paste the embed code, it would just dissapear. On the Blogsome boards I found that you need to disable the WYSIWYG editor option to make it work. Once you have disabled it, you just need to paste it into the post box and it will show up perfectly. Another new thing learned!!!

Image is all important in the world we live in and to be noticed one must do something different and unique. Having a distinctive display is a great and quick way for a company to stand out and get noticed. Earlier this month, we attended the Arabian Travel Market, a worldwide travel and hospitality even held in Dubai, where each stall was built as if it were a real building, complete with multiple floors, mini-kitchens and restaurants, water features, theatres and simply amazing light displays. If you’re going to be part of a trade show, then it’s essential to make your trade show display as spectacular as possible. Just having regular signboards and stuff is no longer going to pull in the clients. Exhibit Deal has some very professional designs on offer, which would look quite impressive. I usually read a couple of books at a time, as I know a lot of other people do too. It’s partly a result of impaitence, but also of wanting to pack in as much information as is possible in as little a time frame. At present I have The Art of the Steal by Christopher Mason and Wild Swans by Jung Chang on my bedside table.

The Art of the Steal is about the price fixing scandal at Christies and Sotheby’s auction houses in the 1990s. Wild Swans is about three generations of women in China, with the bulk of the story being set in Mao’s tumultuous times. Both are true accounts and both are very interesting, so if you can get your hands on them from the library or bookstore, I would reccomend it.

Time to turn in for the night. It’s been a long day, did a lot of work, considering the fact that I am supposed to be on a break from work. Well, I guess life is like that. Even when one takes it easy, there is so much to be done. It’s part of the multi-tasking agenda that we were so thrilled about 10 years back, and is now a real pain. Why can’t we do only one thing at a time and be happy about it? Unless I do a couple of things together, I feel that I’m not making full use of my time, which is a really bad way to think actually. Oh well, must do something about this train of thought….
