Desk1 What does your workplace look like? I’ve been inspired to write about this thanks to Frank who has a blog focusing only on desktops. Mine is small and efficient. I have an L shaped window next to me, which gives me lots of light, a nice fresh breeze and relief for my eyes but does not distract me, since I have tinted windows as well as curtains to block the sound. I also have a ledge under with window, which serves an an extra space for stuff from my desk. That is also where I keep my stack of reference books, a dictionary, a thesaurus, The Marketing Whitebooks from the past few years, a book on white papers and a couple of other books that I reference from time to time. Behind my desk I have an old fashion cork board where I can pin up stuff, most of it is personal stuff, along with some artwork to liven up the space.

Are newspapers dying? The overwhelming majority of people across the world do not read newspapers anymore, relying on palm held devices and moving pictures even more than the internet, TV or radio for their daily dose of news. As much as the trend against physical newspapers due to environmental reasons, I simply cannot imagine not having a paper to read every morning. Even if it is yesterday’s news, I still want to read about it and there is a charm to reading a physical newspaper. I spend all day on the computer, and would not like to read a newspaper online as well.
