Reading MaterialJuly 17, 2007 3:58 pm

It’s always nice to come across a new blog, something that I can add to my rss feeds for daily reading. Brian Free’s Ramblings of an Affiliate Marketer is a great blog for several reasons. I especially like the range of topics Brian writes about, varying from his job at Denver Fabrics to his move from Denver to Ventura and financial status of Sharper Image and marketing news. Niche blogs are all the rage, but it’s nice to read a variety of topics on a blog to better understand a blogger. I can completely identify with Brian on his move as we are in the process of moving as well.

Travel 3:17 pm

realtravel logoI love to travel and the past two years, we have been fortunate enough to travel quite a bit. Traveling a lot goes along with writing about travel and when I’m on my trip, I’m always making mental notes, taking pictures keeping my favorite travel blog in mind and generally always trying to see things from a travel writer’s perspective. Doing this opens up the mind to many more possibilities than one’s own personal tastes, in which one is usually restricted.

I read a lot of travel blogs, and the RealTravel travel blog is one of the best travel blogs there is, since the perspective is from real people and real travelers, who give their personal perspective. Each article is a person’s experience and that’s that really makes this travel blog so interesting. I started reading some articles and seeing the photo of the day and before I realized it, I had spent over an hour at the site. While the articles are all very well written, the pictures are absolutely breathtaking.

After credit card and ISP woes, it is now the turn of travel woes. Our travel plans are getting delayed or canceled left right and center and just as soon as we solve one problem, another one arises out of the blue and we have to tackle that. When the hotel and air bookings are fine we have visa problems, when the visa and hotel bookings are fine we have air ticket or car booking problems and so on. It’s really getting to me now and can’t wait to finish it all off.

Looking through my last couple of posts, and I realized I’ve been writing too much about ‘woes’ of one kind or another. My ISP problem really came out of the blue and could have been totally avoidable if the company had informed its customers of the change in the drop box facilities. They could have fixed the problem faster too, if they wanted to. Instead, they all just repeated the same line over and over again and were not able to come up with any solution. Until I spoke to the last person in the chain, the one who really was able to come up with a solution and take a decision to fix it immediately. Why can’t there be more proactive people like him working in a company that was once known for its superior service? It’s quite a sad situation but it seems that no one either knows or cares what is really happening at the customer level. Do hope things can change for the better.
