Been watching lots of movies lately, since I’ve been on a break. One of the really nice ones I saw was Glory Road which is a true story of an unknown college basketball team that makes it to the top and wins the championship. It’s one of those really great underdog stories that have been told umpteen times, but are not even half as well told as this one. Another similar themed movie that I have seen recently was Chak de, based on the life of a field hockey coach who is past his prime and how he leads his team to win the world championship. I really love watching movies like this and already have collected several of them such as Remember the Titans etc. If you get a chance to watch any of these movies, don’t miss out.
The UK is one of the most fun destinations, since it offers so much history and culture, two things that I place quite high on my priority list when deciding where to travel. Visiting London has become a family tradition of sorts, right from my great-grandfather’s time who went there to study at Cambridge and on through the generations. On my first visit to the UK, I spend most of my time visiting some of the most famous monuments such as the Tower of London, Victoria and Albert Museum and Kew Gardens. There’s just so much to see, that one can simply not manage to cover it all in one trip.
Other than London, I think Windsor and the coast to the south are great excursions to take. And if you’re a sports fan, then a visit to Manchester is a must and Birghimgham is another interesting city that is back on the upswing. While hotels in London can be rather expensive, it is possible to find a good deal at Cheaperthanhotels.co.uk. Check out rates for these hotels in Manchester or hotels in Birmingham and see if you can get better deals elsewhere. Cheaperthanhotels.co.uk is a site that specializes in last minute deals and offers prices well below what you find in other travel and online booking sites. Besides last minute deals, the site also offers regular bookings in advance, as well as bookings for hostels and service apartments.
It’s been a really fun time buying stuff for the house and one of the places that I have loved visiting time and again is of course Ikea. I have found really great items for setting up a desk and organizing stuff, all stuff which Ikea is really great at. I love seeing their layouts of tiny apartments or rooms, where they have managed to fit in all that you need to live, but still make it look really nice and stylish.
It’s a great way to pick up on tips on how to fix odd spaces and get your space to really work for you. With their merchandise changing every week or so, you can be sure to find new items and layouts each time you visit the store. While I have not gone overboard in doing all my shopping from Ikea, I have been able to create a nice mix of pieces from there and from other stores to give an interesting look.
It’s been quite a break for me from blogging, but I’m back on the scene again and am raring to go. While the break was required and it was almost a relief not to have to think what to blog about for a while, it did get to start missing having my say and my own space on the internet. Well, it’s good to be back….
