Ever since my antivirus expired a month back, I’ve been planning to get a new one, since I did not want to renew my subscription with my earlier anti-virus company as they really weren’t that great. There is a good deal going on at Norton, a company that is known for its reliability and advancement of technology to keep up with all the new virus’ that are continuously coming out of the woodwork all the time. Let’s hope this time I have a better experience.

One of the things that I like to look for when I surf the internet is to look for new trends in the retail industry. It was due to one of these surfing stints that I found out about Pop-up stores several years back. Pop-up stores are those that are opened for a short duration of time, and are usually located in a high profile area. The trend for pop-up stores carried on to several other pop-up’s including pop-up hotels, loos and coat checks at concert venues etc. These have been extremely popular, especially in the UK and in Europe.

One of the things I plan to do on my trip home next month is to check out some of the local land for sale, as I’ve always wanted to buy some land in the hills, where I can go up and spend some time chilling out. There is nothing nicer than taking a trip to the hills and having grown up in the area, certainly makes it even more emotional to buy some land nearby. I have no idea what the prices are, although I am aware that they have been rising quite fast in the past few years. Let’s hope for the best.

I’m starting to get excited about my trip next week. There’s a ton of stuff to do as yet and I have to finish all my pending work as well before I leave, since I don’t want to have any work to do while I’m there. I will already have lots to do, since I have a wedding to attend which has 5 functions and need to get my clothes in order quickly. I also need to visit my local doc to get some long pending check ups done, so it will be quite a busy trip actually, and unlikely to have much time to rest and relax.

The variety of construction materials now available, makes for some really great urban architecture. How about some steel buildings which have changed the way a lot of retailers plan and build stores. I am constantly amazed at the vast changes that have occurred in the industry and quite enjoy reading up on how the entire spectrum of architecture has changed due to the advancement in materials.

Sydney is Australia’s most prominent city and to go to Australia means to go to Sydney. The city has some of the most amazing and famous structures in the world such as the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbor Bridge that no one should miss seeing at least once in their lives. New Year’s Eve is one of the highlights of Sydney and to be there to see the fireworks would be simply an experience of a lifetime. Sydney accommodation is amongst the best in the world, encompassing the right mix of luxury and homely style.

One can’t make a trip to Australia without visiting it’s other cities such as Perth and Adelaide as well, since each has its own unique flavor and atmosphere. Perth hotels are available at great rates if one books through the right sources and Adelaide hotels can be hard to find in the busy season, especially when the cricket matches are going on. Adelaide is known for its shopping, party places and restaurants and combined with its cricket matches, it provides the best of entertainment and relaxation.

Still no updates at bLaugh.com. I am really missing the site and wonder why there have been no new cartoons since July 9th, over two months now. Cartoons about the internet are getting common, but cartoons about bloggers and blogging are still relatively new and that’s what makes bLaugh so interesting. The cartoons are of course really insightful and really ‘get’ what is means to be a blogger. I liked this one so much, I posting it again.

Specialization in education has been one of the hotly debated topics for a long time. While a lot of people support going to college to get a liberal arts degree, there are others who feel that it is essential to get some specialized training, something that you will really be able to use in the real world, where a general degree might not get you either a good job or a good salary. Take the Texas Culinary Academy for instance, where you can get specialized training and an education attuned to finding a job upon completion. Check out their site http://www.tca.edu/about-us.asp and you’ll see the emphasis they place on becoming a specialist.

You might be very well educated if you get a liberal arts degree, but if you cannot put that to some use in earning money, furthering your growth, then what good is it? A degree is not just something that should be framed on the wall, it is a starting point for the rest of your life, a start to something that you can create just by your knowledge. I had a choice in college to either get a Bachelor of Arts, which would be a regular course load, or a Bachelor of Science, which would entail a much deeper study and also more practical work, and I selected the latter, since I felt that an education must always be focused not only on increasing your knowledge but also on increasing one’s worth.

There seems to be a huge gap in the way most small businesses perform and how they feel they should actually be performing. A large part of it is due to the fact that these businesses do not invest in their companies as they ought to. Technology has become such an important aspect of running a business, no matter how complex or simple your products or services might be, and for a retailer to ignore this aspect, means that they will lose out on a large number of new customers. The hard part is starting out and selecting what technology options one wants to invest in, but beyond that it only gets simpler, as the results show in sales, service and overall customer satisfaction. It’s a winning situation and only requires a bit of time and money at the onset.
