Being a high end retailer, Barneys New York has a set of customer who have the ability to be more green if they want to and the retailer is making full use of this. Barneys New York is also selling organic cotton T-shirts, handknitted scarves and jewelry where part of the proceeds go to non-profit organizations. Barneys New York is also selling its a green theme gift card. I think a lot of other retailers would also like to use this angle to woo customers, but it typically works best with either the top end or the home-grown retailers. College towns are a great place to find local T-shirt shops and gift stores that are environmentally friendly and share their earnings with a not-for-profit organization.
