When it comes to planning a vacation, the Internet has made it all so much easier. One no longer has to rely on a travel agent to find a nice hotel room or flights at competitive rates. On the Internet, it so easy to view your room before you book, make arrangements for special diets, book a massage session at the hotel and so on. If you’re staying at a Las Vegas hotel, then you can be assured to find even more services on offer, as hotels in Las Vegas go all out to make everything perfect for their guests, starting off from the booking experience itself. I don’t think any other city quite does it like Las Vegas does. Test them out for yourself and see.

Consumers in India are becoming accustomed to being wooed by a constant stream of brands. There has been a significant rise in the number of brands that are available in India and it has never been a better time for consumers. At one time, Ansals Plaza was the only mall in New Delhi, there are now any number of malls in the Gurgaon, Noida belt as well as many coming up in Delhi itself. Two malls that are becoming very popular are the mbi Mall in Gurgaon and Great India Place Mall in Noida. Specialty malls like the Wedding Mall and Gold Souk have also become very popular for consumers to visit for specialized shopping for weddings.

After the crazy eating and partying during the holiday season, most people are working hard to get back to their former weight and are most likely to try options such as ephedra diet pills or other methods to lose weight. The weekend is here and this time, I’m not sure if I will have finished all my work. So, it looks like a working weekend for me this time. The past couple of weekends have been quite relaxing, and since I don’t usually take every weekend off work, it was an unusual run. As a freelance writer, one doesn’t always get to take time off when everyone else does. I am usually working on most holidays like Thanksgiving and this time even on Christmas, just because there was so much work to be done. If you want your regulated holidays then freelance work is not for you. I don’t mind working on weekends every once in a while, as I am able to take long chunks of time off for vacations. I took a month off in October and then was mostly an a break in July and August as well, as we were moving home. So it all balances out quite well, at least in my book!

There comes a point in everyone’s lives that it becomes essential to take care of things for the future and one of the major things that one should attend to is to set up a mortgage life insurance policy for oneself. As much as one does not want to consider these things and worse spend money on them, they are important aspects of being an adult and should not be ignored. Another important aspect that one needs to take care of is to create a will and have it registered. There is no point putting off things like this when all they do is to ensure your family’s financial security for the future.

India’s largest retail chain, The Future Group announced that it would be launching a chain of health clinics, and will be forming a joint venture with Hyderabad based Global Hospitals for the project. Health clinics will be set up in malls and Big Bazaar outlets in the country. On the project, Kishore Biyani, CEO of the Future Group, says that “We are building a prototype for quick-service healthcare clinics with Global Hospitals which will treat common ailments. These clinics will come up in shopping malls and Big Bazaar outlets. The health care retail venture will be kicked-off shortly.” While a brand name for the clinics is not yet known, they will offer a range of services such as diagnostics, consultation, have skin therapy centers and pharmacies.

It seems that each time I pick up a popular culture magazine, I read about one more celebrity who has gone into drug rehab. The concept of privacy in one’s personal life has been totally eradicated thanks to all the media following and constantly digging up dirt on celebrities lives. Going into a drug rehab treatment program is serious business and not just fun and games. The kinds of treatments that are now available are much improved on older times, but what has changed most of all is the attitude of people towards these treatments. That is half the battle won already and once you consider it an acceptable thing to do, then the treatment is likely to be more successful as well.

With the recent cold spell continuing on, all I want to do is to curl up under a blanket and a cup of coffee. Since we’ve not been living in cold weather cities since 2004, it has become harder to bear the cold, especially since this cold is so unexpected. I’m also running short of winter clothes to wear, but can’ be bothered to buy woolens since it should be getting warmer pretty soon now. Weirdly it is much colder inside one’s home since houses are not geared up to be kept warm since the winter is usually non-existent in these areas. Wonder how long the cold will last?

Writing about movies reminded me of our plan to create a room just for watching movies in comfort and style with those incredibly comfortable reclining movie theater chairs. While most of them can work out to be quite expensive, it is possible to find some great discount home theater seating options as well. My requirements are that you must be able to fully recline on them, they should have a swing out table to keep snacks and drinks and have lumbar support as well. I think I will manage to find something with all these things quite easily.

We’ve been watching lots of movies lately, trying to catch up with all the movies that we’ve missed. By far the best movie we saw was Taare Zameen Par, which was produced and directed by Aamir Khan, one of the finest Indian actors, and now a director with a keen sense of getting it just right. The movie is simply superb, with scenes that flow into each other just perfectly, dialogues that convey emotions and feelings so well and a cast that is just wonderful. If you haven’t already seen the movie, you must watch it, before it goes from the theaters.
