Now that winter is over, one need not feel cooped up when it comes to getting some exercise and fresh air. For some people it does not matter at all, and they can carry on exercising on treadmills, but I have never got used to working out seriously indoors, especially when the whether is nice enough to work out in the fresh air. It all comes down to what you are used to, and since I grew up in the mountains, where we used to get a lot of exercise, that’s still my perfect kind of workout. This past weekend when we went up to the hills, we walked about 7-8 kms the first day and about 4 the next. There really is nothing quite like walking in the hills, it becomes effortless after a while, especially when one is enjoying the lovely views.
Last week we took a short trip to the hills. It was a very short trip, just one night away, but it was that or nothing, and so we took it. As usual, it was lovely to be back in the mountains, although there was a lot of haze since it hasn’t rained for quite some time. I still did manage to get some nice pictures of the hills, pine trees, and so on. Here is one of them. I took this from a moving vehicle, but it came out quite nice, I like the way the trees are on one side of the picture.
With the way businesses run these days, it is becoming absolutely essential to use a self assessment tool to evaluate how successful employees operate and motivate their teams. At one time, tools such as these were looked upon as extra things, gimmicky things, but now are completely mainstream and can make quite a bit of difference in the ultimate performance of a business. A lot of small businesses used to avoid using such options, but now almost every start up will opt for professional advice from performance analysis companies. It is a good trend, since it is the initial workings of a company that ultimately define how successful it will be.
I hate the sinking feeling one gets in the stomach when the vacation comes to an end. It’s no fun to even think of going back to normal day to day life after taking it easy and relaxing for some time…no vacation goes on forever after all, but it’s nice to dream that they do though. It’s the same sinking feeling that one got as kids when we were on our way back to school after our vacations…ooh, I really do hate that butterflies in the stomach kind of feeling. I used to hate the monday morning feeling too, till I started working from home and didn’t have to go out to work anymore, and especially since sunday is the start of the work week in Dubai instead of monday, so there, no more monday morning blues!
