The world around us

There is a trend towards taking cruises these days it seems. I know of several of my friends who are taking summer cruises this year, my parents might by going on a river cruise down the Danube and a large number of our family is taking a eastern Mediterranean cruise together. We have been invited, but will not be able to take time off to go for such a long cruise, besides the high cost of the cruise, since it is one of the more luxurious ones, but sometime in the future we plan to take a cruise ourselves. I myself am very keen to go for a cruise up the Nile, which I am told is a really great way to see Egypt and some of its ancient monuments.

The world of Flickr has overtaken me and I at time I just do not want to do anything else but upload photos onto my page and look through others photographs. I have some pretty amazing Flickr friends who post incredible photographs day after day and it really has become an addiction to check out their latest photographs every morning, afternoon and evening. I’ve read in other’s profiles that they too have become so deeply enmeshed in the world of Flickr that all they can think of is what photo to take next and how to frame it and so on.

I find it very upsetting to read about the number of teenagers and even younger children who are getting involved in drug use these days. It’s not really a new phenomenon but the age of the users definitely seems to be getting lesser with each passing year. Going into drug rehabilitation is not a big deal anymore and that is one very positive aspect, if you can call it positive, of this whole thing. Earlier, those affected had to deal with their problems on their own, and more often that not, it was never handled well and left too many scars for the future. The situation has come to such a level now that instead of fighting wars between countries, we are waging a battle within ourselves and this seems to be the most deadly of battles.

It’s been such a relief to finally have several of the odds and ends around the house to have a place to go to now. Adding extra shelves, racks and hanging rails is such an easy way to make a space more effective and efficient, especially when it comes to the kitchen where having things close at hand is very important. It has suddenly become so much easier to work and to keep the place clean and organized now and I’m not even done with all the work there as yet. Looking forward to doing more cooking now.
